As you know this weekend we will be completing our chief Scout expedition. Below is the health form you need to bring with you.
We will be meeting on Saturday 22nd at 10:00 at the location on the map below (Brown End Quarry car park). I cannot find a postcode for this location but please note it is NOT the Waterhouses car park, the quarry is closer to the start of the manifold valley route:
The Explorers will be cycling up the Manifold trail to the foot of Thor’s cave, they will lock up their bikes and make their way up to the cave where they will have lunch and complete a task set by us. After lunch they will go back to their bikes and cycle a little further to Wetton mill where they will leave the Manifold trail and head up hill to Wetton itself. From here they will continue along the roads to the camp site which is about another 8 miles. When they arrive at camp they will set up their tents and prepare themselves a meal on their stoves.
Next morning they will make breakfast, pack up their tents and head to the top of the Manifold trail. They will follow that down as far as Wetton Mill where they can buy ice creams and other snacks. From here they will leave the trail and head toward Butterton then south towards Grindon. After about 1 mile they will reach the Manifold trail once more and follow that back to where we started the route.
We are planning for them to arrive back at the quarry by 12:00 on Sunday June 23.

The details for karting tonight are as follows:
- The activity takes place at Fast Lane Karting in Fenton
- Be there by 19:00, there will be a briefing and racing begins at 19:30
- Wear suitable clothing, but you usually wear overalls too
- We will finish around 21:00 (Explorers will be in touch if it is earlier)
- If you did not put your name down to come you are still welcome to come and watch, we think there are extra spaces available so if you want to bring £25 you may be able to take part
See you tonight
Last week I handed out forms for karting next week. If you were not there then you can download the form and bring it in with you. The spaces are limited to 10 currently but we expect we can increase that should we need to. If you want to come it is on a first come, first serve basis and spaces are filling fast.
Scorpion Karting April 2019
The arrangements for the Chase Walk camp this weekend are as follows.
Arrive at camp from 17:30 onwards, Cliff and myself will be there. Last weekend we showed the Explorers where we intend to camp, when you arrive on site, look for the path that cuts right through the main camping field, we will be at the top of that path on the right (it is the same spot we usually camp on when at Beaudesert).
We will be getting food from the fish and chip shop at around 19:30, the Explorers have already chosen what they want, the cost of this is not included in the fee for the walk.
Please ensure all Explorers have done their own kit check before leaving the house, we will conduct a check on Friday night but if they are missing any kit parents will need to come back out to camp to bring it, any missing kit will result in disqualification by the organisers.
The two teams set off at 06:16 and 06:30 tomorrow morning, I understand that some parents intend to come around the bases, this is fine but please familiarise yourself with the event rules (you will find these on the Chase Walk website), PLEASE DO NOT pass anything to the walkers, no food, drinks, painkillers, NOTHING, this is a major violation of the rules and the entire team will be disqualified if you are seen and reported.
On Sunday there is an awards presentation in the morning and parents need to collect the Explorers at 11:30.
The post code of the camp site (Beaudesert) is WS15 4RE (this is different to the actual address on their website but this one will get you to the top of the drive to the site).
If you have any issues please give me (Kai) a call or text.
